Learning Center - Manufacturer's vs. Extended Warranties

learning center manufacturer vs extended warranties

Massage chair warranties are there to protect your investment, but what is the difference between the one that comes from the manufacturer and the extended warranty?

The warranty of a massage chair usually covers parts and labor, but the length of a warranty can differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. Most warranties can be extended up to five years. We provide an extended warranty that can be purchased separately and on some chairs is available for no charge.

So what do most manufacturer warranties cover?

Manufacturer Warranties

Let’s take the Osaki warranty as an example. Osaki's 3-year "Rock Solid" Limited Warranty is included with the purchase of any Osaki massage chair, and it’s one of the most comprehensive warranties.

Osaki guarantees that your qualified product will be replaced or repaired, whichever they choose, without cost to you, should it be deemed defective because of faulty parts, workmanship, or structural defects during the first three years of ownership, excluding specific limitations.

This is a standard layout, though some massage chair manufacturers only replace or repair the chair during the first year. You’ll have to look closely at the warranty of each manufacturer.

The Osaki warranty includes parts costs and labor costs for the first year at no cost to the customer. This is also standard. Parts costs covered during the second year at no cost to the customer. The structural framework carries an additional one year of warranty time for a total of three years.

The Osaki warranty does not include any shipping expenses incurred, normal wear and tear including Velcro or zipper malfunction, or tears in any fabric covering by abuse. Again this is typical for most warranties.

Most warranties won’t cover physical product damage, whether intentional, accidental, or due to neglect, including stains, fluid spills, mold, water damage, animal damage, cuts, or burns. It also won’t cover if the chair is otherwise unsanitary, damaged, or soiled.

Extended Warranty

Our Extended Warranty Plan is operated through Guardian. Guardian is a leading provider of furniture protection plans and offers a 5-Year Extended Plan that runs at the same time as your manufacturer’s warranty and starts from the date of purchase.

Guardian understands that accidents happen, and their plan protects your chair from many of accidents that aren’t covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. Premium coverage is available for fabric, leather, and wood furniture, including things like food or beverage stains,

stains caused by crayons, grease, ballpoint pen ink, or cosmetics, rips, tears, burns, or punctures.

With a warranty like Osaki’s the breakdown of extended coverage is like this: Osaki cover three years parts, and then Guardian covers them for an additional two years, and Osaki covers one year labor, then Guardian covers an additional four years.

Guardian recognizes that customers want to protect their investment and maintain the beautiful appearance of their new furniture as long as possible. Guardian's Furniture Protection Plans give you peace of mind for years to come.
